The Albanian Riviera is well known for it’s beaches, The Mysterious South diversifies the tourism offer beyond leisure, directs visitors into the villages and hinterland and extends the season well into spring and autumn.


Our Contributions

Trails

Identification, assessment, selection and development of 148 km of trails along the Ceraunian Coastal Mountains, The Shushica Valley and the Albanian Riviera.

Signalizations

Marking and signposting of the selected routes according to the Albanian standard.

Map

Creation of topographic map and descriptions of each trail and village

Training

Identification and training of 30 homestays in 12 communities

Marketing

Familiarisation trip with 12 German journalists and 11 tour operators on a dual itinerary, resulting in over 50 publications released online, in print and on the radio.

Events

South Outdoor Festival: An annual 4-day event supported by the local and national government, organized by GIZ and seven tour operators, started with 1.200 visitors in 2017 an attracted 12.000 in 2019.

- 60 page hiking guide, distributed online and free digital version
- Mysterious South touring map published by Vektor
- High quality visual content for usage in print and online publications
- 15 attractive brochures on the region's villages
